In the real corporate scenario, employee information usually stored in Human Resources Management System and managed by HR department, some of these properties can be published for others using purpose.

In my corporate, I decided syncs these personal information to Active directory with some reasons were considered:

– Active Directory is integrated and work well with SharePoint platform

– It’s secured and managed by IT department

– HRMS may be changed and replaced in the future with better system, but AD is not easy to change

– Other third party systems based on Active directory authentication can re-use  for personal information.

Firstly, you need create customize active directory user attribute,

Then,

– Create New Properties and map it to appropriate Active Directory user attributes. Go to User Profile Service -> Manage User Properties -> Click on New Property

– Input property information as below

You can describe where this information can be showed and who can see it. Indexed and Alias options will make this property can be indexed by Search Service Application and visible for Search Scope

In the bottom, there are Attribute mapping option, you have to specify Active directory attribute which will be mapped and imported

Repeat this action to complete for your cusomize properties

– Run Start Full Synchronization to re-import these customize properties
